"I wish I had access to SABC archives to retrieve the very first live interview I did with Bulelwa Mkutukana, known by her stage name Zahara and her guitar. She was introduced to me then by TK Nciza and Nhlanhla Mafu. The conversation happened at their home in a very protective and loving manner. I shared the sound with the producers we were all teary. What a pure, humble and hungry soul she was. All she wanted was to sing and play her self-taught guitar. Then came fame with its good, bad and ugly. We don't know the time and place, but as painful and sad as this is, I hear her voice echoing with 'sulezo nyembezi, mntakethu.' Baby girl thank you for sharing your love for music and talent with us, may you finally find peace and rest. Condolences to family, friends, and global fans."
